Hi everyone, I was in one of your Board Game Night events back in February, and I think I lost a black leather-type portfolio folder in the events area. That folder, I believe at last check, contained mail addressed to me as and also at least one personal document of mine. This folder should also has gold-colored lettering commemorating a convention which took place back in 2000, and has quite a bit of pockets in it.
The possible nights that I may have lost this folder could be February 13, 20 (most likely) or 27, if I indeed last had it there.
If you have seen this folder or possibly have it which fits the description, please let me know. Thanks!

Since finishing my big project, and completely exhausting myself in the process, my sleep pattern has been totally whacked. I slept all day Friday, slept in late yesterday, and then collapsed yesterday afternoon and slept into the evening. So now I've been up all night because I couldn't sleep. Despite the vague tug of sleepiness now, I'm staying up all day and getting to bed at a decent hour so I can get myself back on schedule.
I also have to confess a serious fall off the bandwagon. I discovered the free games on yahoo, and they have been eating my life. I am such a junkie. Oy. Must stop playing them as of today. I have no self control.
So, on my feet to do something productive, like clean up around the house. I must get back on schedule of being my usual organized self as of tomorrow, and that will be easier with a clean house.

Lots of interesting bits, but ultimately, the movie made no sense.
I would have liked to see a slightly redesigned plot.
I enjoyed many bits of it.

Barak Obama recently made a major statement in support of equal/civil rights for GLBT folks (including a trans person in the example).
This site has that statement and a way to contribute (if desired) to his campaign where it is recorded as trans & ally support. Check it out:

Best wishes & pass it on if you desire,
:)

Many of you have probably already heard about the remark that Kathie Lee Gifford made regarding pagans. But her "apology" is even more appalling. The program segment in which the apology occurs is a painfully trite 11+ minutes of babbling, within which there are two "apologies," each one more insulting than the one before. If you can tolerate watching it all the way to the end, her final remarks are incredibly insulting, remarks that demonstrate an arrogant disregard for anyone who would object to the words tripping from her golden tongue.

My only request is that you express your anger in intelligent and polite terms - do not fall to their level of discourse because it only gives them an excuse to disregard our complaints.

Hello again everyone-
I'm sorry for the double posting and will keep this brief.
We're preparing for a lengthy visit from out of town guests, and would like to have our apartment cleaned by a professional cleaner or cleaning service as a one time deal.
Does anyone have good recommendations on somewhere that's fairly reasonable and does a good job?
Folks who do a good job removing cat hair and using safer products would be great! Thanks so much!
Best,
Heidi

Hi all!
I've posted this on Craigslist, but wanted to cross post here as well. We've got a parking space in our private parking area for rent. Our landlord tacks on a set amount to the rent for each unit to guarantee it, but we no longer have a car. Therefore, we'd like to share the wealth.
We're asking $150.00 per month, or also willing to rent for $50.00 weekly. There are no restrictions. Park when you like, come and go as you please and no need to worry about safety/security.
We live in a multi-family home on Sycamore Street in Winter Hill. We are a five minute walk to both the 80 bus to Lechmere and the 89 bus to Sullivan. Ideal for commuters, or just those who want somewhere to leave your vehicle.
Feel free to let us know if you are interested! My email address is below. Happy Fourth of July weekend.
Cheers,
Heidi

I haven't bought the kid new books-of-her-own in a while, except a neat hardcover copy of Charlotte's Web (some pig!). I am looking for some ideas on what to get her for her upcoming birthday, but that's only tangentially related to my real question.
Do feel free to rec anything you like, of course, but my question is this:
What book do you remember liking best as a child that you CANNOT remember the name of? And why did you like it?
( I'll start, below the cut. )

Probably too late to be asking but ...
... are any towns nearby doing fireworks tonight? I'd rather not schlep into Boston and fight the huge crowds. Anywhere near/around Somerville?

Over at Clarion West, the students are being taught by such luminaries as Connie Willis and Cory Doctorow. I think of them when I have the time to breathe, because they're undergoing what we are, on a whole different letter.
So it came as somewhat of a blow to discover some asshole broke into their house this weekend and stole four of their laptops. You can't do Clarion if you're not laptopped, but they only have limited time to get them replaced, and they can't afford to replace them straight away. (Details, such as they are, are related by the divine Cherie M. Priest.)
Things are chaotic right now, but if there's anything you can do, please contact either Leslie or Neile at info at clarionwest.org - some sort of PayPal campaign is in the works, but God knows what's happening right now. And please, link not this post, but Cherie's, around: I'll be running amuck here at Clarion, I'm too busy to update it as news comes in.
Unfortunately, unless one of y'all can do something to help, those poor people at CWest are gonna have too much spare time on their hands.

Eh. It was okay. Several smiles, not really any laughs.
I guess it's not my kind of humor. I never watched the show.

This movie was a lot of fun.
I want to see it again sometime, now that I know who does the voices.
Well done Disney (edit, oops, I mean Dreamworks.)

So I was up until 2:30 last night and then up at 6:30 this morning, and I had class until noon, and then suddenly I was like, "Oh, right, my birthday was yesterday, wasn't it?"
Thanks so much for the flood of well-wishes and kindness. I've got at least twenty e-cards in my queue and fifty people to respond to, and that makes me feel good. And if I don't get back to you before Saturday or Sunday, well, I've barely been on the Internet. But it did make me feel warm and fuzzy, and it did give me a connection back home, and I love y'all.
Now I am napping at 1:30, hoping I can get enough snoozing for some Werewolf and some fresh beer tonight.
Yesterday was amazing, but I'll have to get (and post) the pictures first. Jesus, San Diego is pretty.

July 12th sees the release of the fifth edition of Warhammer 40,000, Games Workshop's seminal miniatures game of conflict in mankind's dark and distant future. To celebrate, we'll be holding a midnight release party for the game on Friday, July 11th -- the game itself will go on sale at the stroke of midnight, but there'll be additional ad hoc events running both before and after 5th Edition will officially go on sale.
The relocated Pemberton Market, at Mass. Ave. and Day Street, received its liquor license yesterday at 3 pm. They now sell beer, and they are busy building and stocking the wine department as I type this.
